About the Programme
Calling all young detectives! Step into the world of mystery, investigation, and storytelling in this exciting 5-day online creative writing camp. Your child will solve puzzles, uncover clues, and create their very own detective story—all while building essential writing skills.
This interactive holiday programme is designed for primary school students who love stories, problem-solving, and letting their imaginations run wild. Through daily Zoom sessions, students will work as a team of detectives to crack the case—and along the way, they'll discover powerful writing tools that will serve them for life.
5-Day Programme Outline
The Case of the Stolen Star
A 5-chapter mystery story that unfolds each day
Day 1 — Chapter One
Read Chapter 1, explore mystery story structure, learn how to plan a mystery case (What happened / Who / Why / How / Clues)
Day 2 — Chapter Two
Read Chapter 2, learn about red herrings (false clues), practice describing crime scenes, suspicious characters, and writing dialogue
Day 3 — Chapter Three
Read Chapter 3, explore suspects and motives in depth, create characters who seem guilty but are innocent
Day 4 — Chapter Four
Read Chapter 4, learn how to use powerful questions to drive the story forward, practice "show don't tell" descriptive techniques
Day 5 — Chapter Five & Celebration
Read Chapter 5, learn how to create plot twists and surprise endings, complete and share your own detective story
Each day includes fun example stories (Detective Dot, Detective Nibbles, Detective Popcorn & more), discussion questions, and creative writing activities!

Frequently Asked Questions
What if my child misses a day?
We understand things come up! Class recordings can be requested in advance (at least 24 hours before the session). Recordings are available for 7 days. However, we encourage attendance each day as students benefit most from live interaction and group activities.
Do students need any prior writing experience?
Not at all! This camp is designed for all levels. Whether your child is just beginning to write or already loves storytelling, they will be supported and challenged at the right level.
What materials do students need?
Just a notebook or paper, a pencil or pen, and access to Zoom. All other materials (worksheets, clue cards, story templates) will be provided digitally before the camp begins.
